Lip enhancement can be made in many different ways. It can partly be done with injections, endogenous or synthetic materials, but also with surgery to achieve more permanent results. Stylage / Juvederm and the body’s own fat can be injected into the lips. The fat is taken from the knee area and then injected into the lips. The lips become very swollen the first few days after surgery. Bruising can also occur. It is also very common that the treatment needs to be repeated for the result to be permanent, since not all the fat that is injected survives. After this type of operation, you can go home the same day.
If you have too little of the redness on the lip a so-called VY surgery on the inside of the lip can be done. It means bringing out more of the red lip without getting a fuller lip. The operation is done by cutting on the inside of the upper lip and in this way more of the red in the lip is brought forward. This surgery is also done under light anesthesia and you can go home the same day. Bruising and swelling occurs as with the other lip operations. The stitches will be taken away after about 10 days. There is a small risk of transitory numbness in the lip after this operation. If the distance between the nose and upper lip is too long, you can make a seagull incision. It involves removing a strip of skin between the nose and lip to thereby shorten the distance. This surgery does not affect the filling in the lip, but a little more of the red lip becomes visible. You can go home the same day. The stitches are absorbed after about 7-9 days. Swelling and bruising occurs approximately 1 week after surgery.
